Sharing Parenting

Sharing Parenting: When two parents share parenting responsibilities and benefits as equally as they can, from nappy-changing, school runs and play-time, to parental leave and flexible working
Parenting is far from easy, and at times stressful, but it's also rewarding: watching your kid grow and laugh, playing with and teaching them, and being the one they go to for comfort.

Sharing Parenting is about sharing the burdens of bringing up children for happier mums; and sharing the happy times and bonds from parenting for happier dads. Dads have a right to relate to their kids as best they can, and mums have a right to share the effort.

The problem is that despite most parents wanting to share parenting equally, there are a host of barriers stoping them from doing so

There's a new book about that tackles this - 'Dads Don't Babysit, they parent' : towards equal parenting

Here are some posts that think about shared parenting

It's good to know what you're entitled to as parents:
  • Dads and Mums are entitled to split their parental leave with Shared Parental Leave in the UK
  • Parents are entitled to ask for flexible working, and employers have to accept or justify why they turn you down
